Actor Neha Patil works on each role with the utmost dedication. This young artiste, who has been in the industry for a couple of years, was last seen on the silver screen in the movie 'Tippaji Circle'. In a candid chat with TiniSara Anien, the actor talks about how she has her fingers crossed for her upcoming movie 'Samyuktha 2'.

How has your journey been?

I entered the film industry by sheer luck. I wasn't really looking out for roles. But once I did, I realised that it was going to be a challenging journey. I did not know anyone in the industry. So each movie is a learning experience. And I push myself to do better in the next one.

How did 'Samyuktha 2' happen?

Last year, after 'Tippaji Circle', I was waiting for a good banner to offer me a role while I was on a three-month break. Srivatsa approached me for the movie and explained that there were going to be two lead actors opposite Chetan Chandra. I hadn't acted with Chetan yet and this seemed like a nice opportunity.

What made you sign the project?

(Smiles) The film is a thriller and this was thrilling for me. I agreed to work on the movie instantly.

Your chemistry with Chetan...

We have been good friends for years now. He was easy on the floors too. But we wouldn't joke around as both of us are serious people. The set and its theme were also serious.

Your role in the movie...

I play one of the lead roles. I play a medical student, Chetan's former love interest. What happens to me plays an important part in the film.
What homework did you do for your role?

I didn't do much homework for 'Samyuktha 2'. I just came to sets and followed the instructions I was given. The maximum homework I did was for 'Daksha', where I acted opposite 'Duniya' Vijay. The movie was shot in a couple of hours, following a five-day rehearsal.

How challenging was it to work in the film?

I was excited because I knew my role was unpredictable. I was also worried if I would be able to do justice to the movie. There are twists and turns in my character and it was fascinating enough for me to accept the role. At the same time, I didn't want to set a pattern or be typecast.

Any interesting experiences on the sets...

Actor Rekha acts as a lecturer in the movie. She was sporting fake nails and I pointed out that they would look perfect for my role. She immediately gifted me a set and I found that very endearing. We also had a long chat where she advised me about how to go about my career, what to accept and how to work around things. Also, the whole experience was interesting. Through my role, I got to revisit my college days.

Your upcoming projects...

I have a few projects lined up for release including 'Smile Please', 'Vardhana', 'Samyuktha' and 'Bathaas'.

If you were not an actor...

(Smiles) I would have loved to be a pilot. I love flying!
