Kannada Rajyotsava' was organised by MS Ramaiah College of Arts Science and Commerce recently. Theatre personality Shripathi Manjanabailu was the chief guest on the occasion.
He has produced many plays in Belagavi district to enhance the awareness and popularity of Kannada.
He spoke about the unification of Karnataka state and enlightened the gathering about Kodavuru Ananthram Bhatt and his role in bringing out the first Hindi dictionary. He also spoke about Narasimha Rao Benegal. A Nagarathna, principal of the college in her presidential address, said that Kannada awareness should not be limited to 'Rajyotsava' celebrations but should continue throughout the year. She advised the Kannada faculty members to teach Kannada to non-Kannadigas.
